Okay, we've had a lovely four berry pie from Bode's Mercantile in Abiquiu, NM that we brought with us to Pagosa Springs. And an outstanding strawberry-rhubarb pie from the Pagosa Springs Baking Company (the kids did not care for rhubarb). So-so apple pie from the Ole Miner's Steakhouse (people, do not put pie in the microwave) and fairly good chocolate icebox pie from the Branding Iron, all in Pagosa Springs.
We should have one more pie to add to our tally, but we were let down by the Route 66 diner in Santa Rosa, NM. After waiting for our pie for 15 minutes (which we had ordered with lunch), it still hadn't arrived. We had to leave to pick up my sister at the airport, so we told the waitress that we just had to go. Her response, "Well, the pie was whole, it's taking so long because I'm going to have to cut it." We can't figure that one out.
we all know cutting pie can take an incredibily long time...right? Thanks for the laugh, have a beer for me.
